On the uniqueness of the M. L. estimates in curved exponential families
نویسنده
چکیده
Curved families (cf. Efron [3]) imbedded in exponential families having full rank differentiable sufficient statistics are considered. It is proved that if the rank is less or equal to the dimension of the sample space, then the maximum likelihood estimate is unique. Examples: the gaussian nonlinear regression, the gaussian family with unknown mean and variance, the ^-distribution. Generalized curved exponential families are considered as well.

Classical and Bayesian Inference in Two Parameter Exponential Distribution with Randomly Censored Data
Abstract. This paper deals with the classical and Bayesian estimation for two parameter exponential distribution having scale and location parameters with randomly censored data. The censoring time is also assumed to follow a two parameter exponential distribution with different scale but same location parameter. The main stress is on the location parameter in this paper. This parameter has not...
متن کاملThe Uniqueness of Extremum Estimation
Let W denote a family of probability distributions with parameter space Γ, and WG be a subfamily of W depending on a mapping G : Θ→ Γ. Extremum estimations of the parameter vector θ ∈ Θ are considered. Some sufficient conditions are presented to ensure the uniqueness with probability one. As important applications, the maximum likelihood estimation in curved exponential families and nonlinear r...
متن کاملConvergence of the sinc method applied to delay Volterra integral equations
In this paper, the numerical solutions of linear and nonlinear Volterra integral equations with nonvanishing delay are considered by two methods. The methods are developed by means of the sinc approximation with the single exponential (SE) and double exponential (DE) transformations. The existence and uniqueness of sinc-collocation solutions for these equations are provided. Thes...
متن کاملApproximating Bayes Estimates by Means of the Tierney Kadane, Importance Sampling and Metropolis-Hastings within Gibbs Methods in the Poisson-Exponential Distribution: A Comparative Study
Here, we work on the problem of point estimation of the parameters of the Poisson-exponential distribution through the Bayesian and maximum likelihood methods based on complete samples. The point Bayes estimates under the symmetric squared error loss (SEL) function are approximated using three methods, namely the Tierney Kadane approximation method, the importance sampling method and the Metrop...
متن کاملQuasi-Static Transient Thermal Stresses in an Elliptical Plate due to Sectional Heat Supply on the Curved Surfaces over the Upper Face
This paper is an attempt to determine quasi-static thermal stresses in a thin elliptical plate which is subjected to transient temperature on the top face with zero temperature on the lower face and the homogeneous boundary condition of the third kind on the fixed elliptical curved surface. The solution to conductivity equation is elucidated by employing a classical method. The solution of stre...
